Trinity Traditions
For more than 150 years, Tigers have developed traditions passed from one generation to the next.
From climbing Murchison Tower during New Student Orientation, to birthday dunks in Miller Fountain, to studying for exams by the magic stones, Trinity traditions celebrate the spirit of the campus.
Fountain Dunk: When your birthday rolls around, you may want to trade your jeans for swim trunks. Students are often dunked in Miller Fountain to celebrate.
Christmas Vespers and Open Houses: You will not want to miss the annual candlelight Christmas Vespers service in Parker Chapel, followed by holiday cheer in the open houses on Oakmont.
Ring Ceremony: Receive your class ring as a part of Trinity's ring ceremony. Rings are brought down from Murchison Tower and given to students, who in turn give them a celebratory dunk in Miller Fountain.
Magic Stones: Legend has it that studying by the stones grants you good luck on your next exam!
Tiger's Nose: Rub the nose of our LeeRoy statue and bring good luck to the Tiger team! Legend has it that the campus cats gather around the LeeRoy statue at midnight.
Northrup Seal: Watch your step! The Northrup Hall seal has special powers... According to rumor, students who walk on it won't graduate in four years.
Chocolate Festival: Love chocolate? This is the event for you! Our campus is quickly filled with this lovely scent of chocolate.
Hallympics: Which residence hall reigns supreme? Residential Life sponsors these fun competitions between the halls at the beginning of each academic year.
Happy Friday: Watch the AcaBellas and the Trinitones perform at 12:22 p.m. in the Coates Student Center lobby on most Fridays during the fall and spring semesters. The groups alternate weeks.
Milk 'n' Cookies: Student Involvement hosts Milk 'n' Cookies in Student Involvement Office most Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.
Nacho Hour: Student Affairs hosts Nacho Hour in the Coates Student Center lobby on most Wednesdays at 3:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.
Spotlight: From singing and dancing to juggling and rollerskating, Trinity's annual student talent show showcases the skills and abilities of Tigers across campus.
Taste of Diversity: Try food from different cultures at this spring event, sponsored by the Trinity Diversity Connection.
Major Declaration Day: Celebrating choosing your major, whether it’s your forever calling or just where you discover yourself while at Trinity.
Lectures and Visiting Scholars
Each year, Trinity University enriches the local and campus community through a variety of lectures, events, and series. The University is excited to bring world renowned speakers to San Antonio, and invites you to join Trinity as we welcome these individuals.
Athletics Events
Trinity is home to 18 intercollegiate athletics teams. Our student-athletes regularly earn Academic All-America Honors and NCAA postgraduate scholarships. And in recent years, we've won five NCAA team championships as well as 10 NCAA individual national titles. #TigerPride

Since 1980, Trinity University has hosted more than 100,000 visitors at more than 1,500 national and international conferences and programs.
